Welcome (Witamy) to Polska Polish Pottery & Gifts!
Our Story
Polska Polish Pottery & Gifts is a Polish family-owned business, something that makes us unique in the Polish pottery business. Originally from Lublin, Poland, members of our family moved to the United States in the 1970s. We speak Polish, maintain close ties to our family still in Poland, and take great pride in our Polish ancestry.
Our passion for importing Polish pottery and gifts dates back over 40 years. Today, we continue our traditions by participating in the local Polish community and culture. Each year, we exhibit at the American Czestochowa Church Polish American Festival.
History of Polish Pottery
Polish pottery and stoneware manufactured in Boleslawiec, Poland, has a history going back as far as 6,000 B.C. Today, each piece is created from locally sourced white clay and fired in kilns at temperatures in excess of 2,250°F with lead-free glaze. Designed for daily use, our stoneware is microwave, oven (up to 375°F), freezer, and dishwasher safe.
Traditional vs Unikat Patterns
Polish pottery comes in two distinct types of patterns – Traditional and Unikat.
Traditional patterns date back over 300 years and were inspired by the peacock, a favorite of European royalty. These patterns feature royal blue backgrounds and intricate circles in their designs. Countless variations of Polish pottery based on traditional patterns exist today.
Unikat (meaning “unique”) patterns are more modern patterns that are custom designed. Each piece is hand-painted and decorated by a highly skilled and experienced artist with a fine brush. Unikat pieces are intricate works of art and each piece is accompanied with the artist’s signature. Every piece is truly one of a kind.
Polish pottery includes dinnerware, bakeware, serveware and other gifts and accessories. It makes a beautiful addition to any kitchen or home decor!
